Margaret J. Dunham

Margaret J. Dunham, 77 passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Fargo Elim Senior Living. 

Margaret was born in Kindred, ND on February 25, 1947, to Walter and Charlotte (Schmitz) Gilbertson. She grew up in Kindred before moving to St. Paul where she graduated from high school. She then attended college in St. Paul where she earned her nursing degree. 

Margaret enlisted in the US Army and served as a nurse during the Vietnam War. It was there she met Kenneth Dunham. They later married and had three children: Michael, Lynn and Jane. Following their service, they lived for a time in Indiana before making their home in Fargo, where Margaret continued to work as a nurse. 

In her free time, Margaret enjoyed going to garage sales. She also loved to read and felt strongly that a person should always be gaining knowledge. 

She will be missed by many, including her daughter, Jane (Chad) Sissell; and grandsons, Dade, Quinton, and Ketcher.

She is welcomed into heaven by her parents; sister, Judy Gilbertson; brother, Tom Gilbertson; son, Michael; daughter, Lynn; and grandson, Gavin.

The family would like to thank the staff at Elim and Hospice of the Red River Valley for the wonderful care provided to Margaret. 

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Burial with full military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND following the reception.
