Margaret E. ’Peggy’ Benedict

Margaret "Peggy" McCormick Benedict, 99, a lifelong resident of Fargo-Moorhead passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Home in Lake Park early Sunday morning, the 9th of January 2011. Peggy was preceded in death by: her parents, Rose and Thomas McCormick, her four siblings, Walsh, Thomas, Richard and Jerry. Also a beloved grandchild Katie Benedict, daughter of recently deceased Pat Benedict. And in 1984, the focus of her life, her husband of fifty one years, Edwin Benedict . With the exception of a few years spent in Northern Montana with her family, Peggy's early years were in Moorhead where she graduated from Moorhead High School. Upon graduation, she was employed at Bell Telephone there until the birth of her first child. The following years with Ed and the family are those that she enjoyed most. Peggy was a communicant at St. Joseph's church from it's early years and a member of Catholic Daughters. She also was active in PEO and the Gamma Phi Beta Alumni group. She and Ed were early members of the Moorhead Country Club where they both golfed. As the years rolled by, she and Ed enjoyed summers at Pelican Lake, surrounded by their children and grandchildren and winters in La Jolla and Coronado, California. In addition to her daughters Margaret Liberati Phoenix, AZ and Sandra Feeney West Palm Beach, FL, she is survived by Fran Benedict Sabin, MN and her children: Michael Benedict Sabin , Stephanie Walter Roseau, MN , Blane Benedict Sabin, Lisa Mann Fargo, Kurt Benedict Sabin, Dave Benedict Sabin and Luke Benedict Barnesville MN. Other survivors include: Son-in-law Rod Liberati and daughters, Lisa Santa Monica CA and Cristina San Marcos, CA, and Son-in-law Jim Feeney and sons Jim Jr. Newport, RI, Patrick Chengdu, China and Dan Merrimac, MA. There are 31 great grand-children.
