Margaret G. Hatledal

Margaret was born September 8, 1920, northeast of Ulen, Minnesota, to Edward and Marie Vandermeer Smith. She grew up and attended rural country school near Ulen, MN, and farmed with her mother until her marriage. Margaret married Raymond Hatledal on September 7, 1949 in Hawley, Minnesota. Following their marriage she helped her husband farm until his death in 1971. Margaret continued to help on the farm.She was an active member of Lysne Lutheran Church, where she was treasurer of Lysne Lutheran Church Cemetery for many years. She also was a member of the Garden Club and Homemakers Club. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, craftwork, knitting and crocheting, especially afghans and sweaters. In her mission work with Lysne Lutheran Church she rolled over twenty-five thousand bandages.She is survived by her brother-in-law, Waldo Hatledal of Hawley, MN; sisters-in-law, Cora Frederick of Seattle, WA, and Rosanne Smith of Ulen, MN; many nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; parents; and two brothers, Ervin and Marvin Smith.
