Margaret was born August 13, 1923, to Arthur and Jeanie Keathing Thomas in Ayr, Scotland. She grew up and attended school in the Dudley area of England. Following her schooling, she served in the English Military where she was a Jeep Driver. She met her future husband, Oscar Holmgren, while he was serving in the U.S. Military. He was stationed overseas and they met during the troop buildup prior to the invasion of Normandy. Margaret moved to the United States in April of 1947 and married Oscar on April 7, 1947. Together they made their home in Lake Park. For several years, she worked at the Lefse Plant in Lake Park. She later worked as a nurse's aid at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes and finally at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park until retirement. Margaret enjoyed flowers, knitting and reading, but especially enjoyed the time with family. She will be dearly missed. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Oscar; brothers, Iver, Wally and Ron; and sisters, Jean, Beryl and Pat. She is survived by children, Raymond John Wanda Holmgren, West Fargo, ND, Glenn Patsy Holmgren, Audubon, MN; Frances Curt Abel, Frazee, MN, and Becky Keith Krogen, Lake Park, MN; grandchildren, Lisa Lance Kirkeland, Dawn Barr, Scott Holmgren, Julie Roy Storsved, Kathy Jeramy Jacobson, Kricket Darren Turnboom, Alicia Smith, Jared Krogen, Joshua Krogen and Jacob Krogen; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, John Audrey; sister, Freida Joe; and many nieces and nephews.
