Margaret O. Lomsdal

Margaret was born October 26, 1932 to Anne Nelson and Earl Adams. She grew up and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1950. On February 27, 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Lomsdal, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minnesota. They made their home in Moorhead until 1984, when they moved to the lake. Together they had four children, Sandra, Scott, Shannon and Steven. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND, and she worked at the Fargo National Bank until 1955. In 1963, Margaret started managing their Rental Properties, which she continued to do for forty-two years. She also did office work for the construction and bricklaying business, and all the interior decorating in the homes that they built. She had a true compassion for caring for others. Margaret enjoyed life, living on Lake Ida for forty-eight years, pontoon rides and socializing with friends and family, also the sixteen years spending winter months in Mesa, AZ. She also enjoyed playing cards, dice games, stained glass class with Sharon and Pat, and many trips to Nevada, having fun with friends. Margaret looked forward to her "1950" class reunions and socializing with her classmates. Margaret loved hosting the Valley Vintage Car Club picnics at the lake. She had a strong belief in Jesus Christ, taught confirmation at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN, participated in Altar Guild, work group, and other activities she was asked to do at Cormorant Lutheran Church, where she was a member for twenty-seven years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the F.M. Homebuilders Association Auxiliary. Her children and grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She will be missed dearly by her family and numerous friends near and far. She is survived by her husband, Douglas, married for fifty-eight years; children, Sandra Mark Maring, Hendrum, MN, Scott Nancy Lomsdal, Moorhead, MN, Shannon James Schlanser, Fargo, ND, and Steven Kim Lomsdal, Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Katie Brandon Johnson, Joe fiancé, Kelsey Qualley Lomsdal, Luke Maring, Ashley Schlanser and Mike Schlanser; great grandchildren, Annaka Johnson and Bennett Johnson; nieces, nephews, and cousins which she loved very much.She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, Wilson Johnstone, two sisters, Marjorie Nielsen twin sister, Renae Jorgenson, and brother, Ross Adams; and all her aunts and uncles.In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Cormorant Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
