Margery A. Laffen

Margery Ann Laffen, 79, of Fargo, ND, passed away on August 2, 2015 at her favorite place, the cabin on Lake Melissa.

Visitation will be held at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN on Wednesday, August 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with prayer service at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, August 6th at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. A Christian burial will be held at Augustana Lutheran Church Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN at 3:00 pm.

Marge was born to Wilhelm and Nellie Bakke Bergquist on September 4, 1935 in Detroit Lakes, MN. She grew up on the farm near Audubon, MN and graduated from Audubon High School in 1953. Marge met her beloved husband Leslie H. Laffen while working together at the Red Owl Store in Moorhead. They were united in marriage on June 18, 1955 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with many friends and family. In 1971 they purchased the Broadway Jack and Jill which was the first of four stores that they owned. She continued in the grocery business until retirement. After retirement, Marge served with Intercambio, a placement service for international exchange students.

Marge and Les joined Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 46 years ago. Marge has been very active at Our Redeemer including service on many committees and other church activities. She will always be known for her loyalty to the Special Education Sunday School program where she taught for over 35 years. Marge had an unbelievable passion to serve. Her willingness to help anyone at any time made a great impact and lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She continually put others before herself.

Marge Mor Mor to her grandchildren loved being at the lake and being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family. She always had the coffee pot on, food on the table, and a deck of cards nearby.

She was preceded in death by her parents Wilhelm and Nellie; brothers Wilferd Bergquist, Cecil Bergquist and sisters Arlys Lindblad and Doris Jones.

Marge is survived by her husband Les; sons Gregory Diane Laffen, Howard Laffen, and John Marci Laffen; daughter Marles Phil Lamers; grandchildren, Nickolas Kristi Laffen, Melissa Brock Holum, Richard Kim Rittmaster, Tyler Meghan Rittmaster, Christopher Lamers, Tanna Rittmaster, Steven Lamers, Benjamin Laffen and Sarah Laffen; great grandchildren, Grayson Laffen, Kate Holum, and Claire Rittmaster; brothers Ralph Bergquist and Charles Mardella Bergquist, and sisters Inez Bergquist and Carol Larry Fast.

Marge was dearly beloved and will be missed by everyone that knew her.
