Marian J. Ward

Marian J. Ward, age 87, Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Marian was born to Elmer D. and Myrtle (Larsen) Ward on February 13, 1931, at Wahpeton Hospital in Wahpeton, ND. She grew up on the family farm near Mooreton, ND, and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1947. After graduation she worked in Moorhead at the FM Hotel as a secretary. She then lived in California and worked various secretarial jobs. She moved back to Wahpeton in 1964 and worked for the North Dakota State College of Science until 1972. Marian later moved to Moorhead and worked for Rental Housing in Fargo for many years. After retirement she moved into the Eventide Living Community.

She enjoyed volunteering at Eventide through RSVP, playing bingo, doing word search puzzles and especially having coffee and visiting with her friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her daughter and family.

Marian is survived by her daughter, Mary (Jim) Safgren of Randall, MN; grandson, Denver Safgren of Randall, MN; brother, Raymond (Pat) Ward of Wahpeton; two sisters, Marlice (Norman) Fenske, Karen (Robert) Schmidt, both of Arizona; and many other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Lester, Ralph, Donald, Roy, Warren, Elwood; and a sister, Grace Ward.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 7, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., followed by the funeral at 3:00 p.m., in Bottolfson Chapel – Eventide on 8^th, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, ND.
