Marilyn Elizabeth O'Meara, 84, of Moorhead, Minnesota died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.Marilyn was born November 12, 1924, in Aneta, North Dakota to Edward and Grace Tandberg Forberg. The marriage of her mother to Albert Bjerke in 1936 occasioned the move to Fergus Falls, MN where Marilyn graduated from Fergus Falls High School.Marilyn was united in marriage to Edward Vincent O'Meara, Jr. on August 17, 1946, in Fergus Falls, MN. The first years of their marriage were spent in Bloomington, MN and Wadena, MN before returning to Fergus Falls to raise their family of seven children. In 1972 they moved to Moorhead. Soon after, Marilyn began working as a salesperson at Conlin's Furniture formerly Furniture City.Marilyn and Vince enjoyed traveling extensively in their motor home. They attended Vince's naval reunions annually at different locations in the United States. They enjoyed camping and hunting trips as well. Marilyn was a wonderful cook, establishing family traditions that are being handed down through the generations. Marilyn is survived by her children, Mary Darvin Carda of Hurley, SD, Edward Donna O'Meara of Eureka, CA, Cathe Elroy Finkelson of Dalton, MN, Trish Curt Eide of West Fargo, ND, and Jim Wendy O'Meara of Fargo, ND; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren; her sister Kay Bjerke Schwarz of Plymouth, MN and Eileen Ikey Decker of Burnsville, MN as well as several nieces and nephews.Dementia slowly robbed us of the Mom we knew and loved, but she was happy and a joy to be around. We are very thankful and grateful for all the wonderful care she received at the Evergreens Assisted Living in Fargo and Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, step-father, and sons Brian and John.
