Marilyn Nelson

Glenda "Marilyn" (Olson) Nelson, 91, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Comstock, MN, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at SMP Health, St. Catherine’s South Nursing Home, Fargo, ND.

Marilyn was born on January 5, 1934, to Lawrence and Julia (Klokseth) Olson in Moorhead, MN. She grew up in rural Glyndon, MN, attending Riverside Country School before attending and graduating from Moorhead High School. Marilyn participated in 4H and helped her parents on the family farm during high school. After high school, she attended Moorhead Teacher’s College. She was united in marriage to Lance Nelson on November 24, 1956, in rural Glyndon, MN. Marilyn and Lance lived in the Comstock area where they farmed for most of their lives. After retirement, they moved to Fargo, ND.

Marilyn was an active member at Comstock Lutheran Church, participating in many of their church activities including Ladies Aid, Quilting Circle, and making craft and food items for annual church bazaars and other fundraisers.

Marilyn was a kind and gentle person with a generous spirit who was always willing to help her community, her church, her friends, her family and her many pets. Marilyn was a talented seamstress, artist (Rosemaling), lover of all baked goods and coffee and maker of cherished memories for her children.

Marilyn is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Lance, Fargo, ND; children, Mark (Jenny) Nelson, Aitkin, MN, and Julie Nelson (Rick Yancik), Evergreen, CO; grandson, Logan (Janice) Nelson, Duluth, MN; Sister-in-laws, Donna Olson Tyler, TX; Irene Olson, West Fargo, ND; Russell the beloved orange cat, and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Roy and Aulden Olson.
