Marion F. Gee

Marion Frances Gee, 86, Fargo, ND died at her home, Tuesday, July 28th 2015. Marion Taus was born on August 18th, 1928 to Thomas and Emma Helm Taus in Angus, MN. She received her grade school education at Angus and graduated from high school in Warren, MN. She earned her college degree at Moorhead State Teacher’s College. Her teaching career started in Bejou, MN and Oak Mound School near Kragnes, MN teaching elementary students; she then taught kindergarten classes in the Fargo Public Schools and Trinity Lutheran in Moorhead, MN. Her later careers included working as a secretary with SCORE in the Small Business Administration and as a sales person with Wimmer’s Jewelry in Fargo.

Marion was married to Milton Gee Jr. on August 23, 1953 in Moorhead, MN and they farmed north of Moorhead near Kragnes for thirty years. Milton passed away in 1983. She was a very active member of Oak Mound Congregational Church as a Sunday school teacher and Ladies Aid member and was the church organist for 46 years. Marion volunteered in many organizations including American Cancer Society, Moorhead Republican Women, 4-H, Farm Bureau, Eagles Auxiliary, Moorhead VFW, MSUM Regional Science Center, Clay County Historical Society, and Clay County Homemakers. She enjoyed art, music, dancing, entertaining, and cooking.

Marion is survived by her son, Jerry Maggie Gee, rural Moorhead, daughter Jennifer Scott Swanholm, Fargo, 6 grandchildren: David Emily Gee, Moorhead, Elizabeth Reid Ridpath, Shakopee, MN, Alex Gee, Moorhead, Ben Tara Swanholm, Mesa, AZ, Sarah Chaz Bombenger, Fargo, and Anthony Swanholm, Fargo, and 2 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Mildred Taus Yarde, Choteau, MT and Robert Lana Taus, San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Gee Jr., her parents, Thomas and Emma Taus, brother Earl Taus, and sister Dorothy Cereghino.

Funeral: 11:00 AM Monday, August 3, 2015 at First Congregational UCC in Fargo, ND.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday with prayer service at 7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Interment: Oak Mound Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
