Beloved mother, sister, and friend Margie Brantner, 91, passed away peacefully June 15, 2024.
Margie lived a long and happy life. She was born Marjorie Elizabeth Olness December 27, 1932, at the “White House” in Kragnes, Minnesota. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Kragnes for eight years, and then graduated from Moorhead High School in 1950 and Dakota Business College soon after. She worked as a secretary at Winston Newall and married Charles (Casey) Brantner and for the next 31 years helped raise four sons, Arabian horses, sugar beets, and grain on their farm north of Moorhead.
After moving into Moorhead in 1983, Margie remained active by working as the hostess/manager at the Tree Top restaurant in Moorhead and part-time at the Minnesota Hearing Aid Center. She volunteered for years at the Hjemkomst Center and was a lifelong member of North Buffalo Lutheran Church, which was an important part of her life. For over 50 years, she met every Monday morning with a group of dear friends for breakfast. She loved country western music and dancing. She attended exercise classes at the Fargo YMCA into her nineties and on her “off days” walked up and down the stairs in her condo building.
Margie loved people and being active. She was fiercely loyal to her children and friends. Her positive spirit and beautiful smile enriched us all. She was one-of-a-kind and will truly be missed.
Margie is survived by her sons Jeff (Gerri) in Amarillo, Texas, Tim (Caroline) in Northfield, Minnesota, and Dan (Donna) in Plano, Texas; seven grandchildren (Katie, Kari, Caleb, Lily, Quinn, Ava, Matthew, Riley); six great grandchildren; her beloved siblings, Pat Olson in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Barbara Reichert in Edina, Minnesota, David Olness (Marie) in Nisswa, Minnesota; countless cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her good friend Bob Stenerson, his daughter Julie, and their family who were so kind to Margie over her last years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her dear son Tom.
Margie’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Sanford Fargo Hospice House for the exceptional and loving care they provided during her stay there.
