Marjorie G. “Marge” Fridlund

Marjorie Gertrude Fridlund, 99, known to friends and family as Marge, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday April 14, 2018.  Marge was born October 13, 1918 in Fargo ND to Margaret Cecil and John Allen Raines.

Marge attended High school in Fargo, graduating with honors in 1936. She was heavily involved in student council,  multiple extracurricular sports including baseball, basketball, deck tennis, cage ball, hockey, ping-pong, soccer, volley ball, in addition to girls glee club, girls athletic club and a few more!

After graduation, Marge attended business school, and briefly worked for the IRS.  Marge met the love of her life, Carroll “Coke” Reuben Fridlund , and they were married in 1939.  They had two children together, Scott Michael born in 1940 and Karen Elizabeth born in 1942.

Marge was widowed at the age of 42.  She began working at Warner and Company after Coke’s death, and had a successful career as Mr. Warners executive assistant until her retirement in 1980.  Durning these years, she spent much time at the cabin on Big Cormorant Lake in Becker county with her son Scott and his family.   Marge enjoyed boat rides, fishing, spending time with her grandchildren Jennifer and Jon, and relaxing on the dock.

Marge spent her many years of retirement ( 37 years!) in Austin Texas enjoying her friends, playing bridge, traveling the world with daughter Karen, and soaking up the heat after so many winters in the North Dakota tundra!

Marge is survived by her daughter Karen, granddaughter Jennifer (Greg) Lee, her great grandchildren Anastasia and Ian Lee.  She is preceded in death by her husband Coke, her son Scott, her grandson Jon, and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Inurnment will be at Moorhead Memorial Gardens following the service.
