Mark Henry Bothum, 67, of Fargo, passed away at home on May 12, 2014.
Mark Bothum was born on August 25, 1946 in Hallock Hospital to Kenneth and Angeline Blazek Bothum. He was raised in Karlstad, MN on the family farm. Mark graduated from Karlstad High School in 1964. In 1968, he graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Agriculture Economics. Mark was united in marriage to Rebecca Olson on July 10, 1967, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead.
Mark first started working as an Assistant County Agent in Breckenridge, MN. He later started farming in Karlstad, MN. The family then moved to Kenyon, MN, while Mark was a manager of a canning factory. They later moved to Breckenridge, MN where he worked for Minn-Dakota Beet Co-op as an agriculturist. After that, he went back to farming in Karlstad for two years. He was developing his business of selling beet, soybean and sunflower seeds for 30 years.
During the winter months, Mark and Rebecca spent their time in Fargo and the Phoenix area. Mark loved fishing, hunting, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed spending time with family at their summer cabin.
Mark is survived by his wife, Rebecca; three children, Melissa Paul Hartness, Fargo, Rachel Bothum, Crystal, MN and Luke Bothum, Fargo; four grandchildren, Nick, Aidan, Tristan and Reid Hartness, all of Fargo; brother, Larry Bothum; sister, Mary Spilde; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Angeline Bothum; and brother, Alton Bothum.
Funeral: Friday, May 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Interment: St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
