Marlene A. Nash

October 25, 1931 — January 11, 2017

Marlene A. Nash, 85, of Moorhead, left this world the way she wanted to, peacefully, and not lingering, surrounded by family, on January 11, 2017.

Marlene Antionette Langlie was born October 25, 1931, in Glyndon, MN, to Walter and Evelyn Gilbery Langlie. She graduated from Glyndon High School and then spent 2 years at Interstate Business College in Fargo. She moved to Minneapolis for some time, and eventually to California, where she would meet the love of her life, Roger Nash. Marlene was a bookkeeper in the office of Signal Oil Company and she met Roger while he was working at one of the gas stations owned by the company. They were united in marriage on December 23, 1956.

The family moved to the Sabin, MN area in 1969, where Marlene was active in Trinity Lutheran Church as the church organist. In the early 1980’s, she enjoyed working at Double A Growers greenhouse in Sabin, where she nurtured her love for flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and playing cards, especially Skip-Bo. She loved bowling, camping, fishing at Middle Cormorant Lake, and her weekly trips to Family Fare for her scratch-off tickets. Marlene and Roger were a very musical couple, and she could play piano, organ and accordion beautifully. They were avid Minnesota Twins and Redhawks fans, and together they spent many years as snowbirds in Arizona. Roger, her husband of 60 years, passed away on December 18, 2016.

Marlene will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother, someone who did not worry but instead chose to take things in stride, and say, “that’s part of life.” She loved to have company, you never needed an invitation to visit. Since 1992 she kept a daily journal where she would keep her thoughts on life, and in the end, she was content to say that she had a good life. She will forever be missed by her loving family.

She is survived by her children, Diane Rodney Boehm, Livingston, MT, Dudley Stacie Nash, Jamestown, ND, Denise Darrin Martin, Bismarck, ND, Dave Nash, Eveleth, MN, and Debra Sarah Nash, Montgomery, MN; grandchildren, Heather Chuck Goulet, Holly Blaine Johner, Ethan Nash, Dustin Martin, Derick Stormey Martin, Demmie Martin, Brittany Nash, Jessica Jeff Lessard, and Shonna Davis; 9 great-grandchildren, and aunt, Connie Kopp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; her parents; her grandson, Devin Martin; her brother, Gene Langlie, and her sister Janet Hillier.
