Marlene Lilleby

Marlene Lilleby, 72, Moorhead, MN, died February 5, 2020, at River Pointe in Moorhead under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Marlene Carol Lilleby was born on August 24, 1947, in Fargo, ND, to Leo and Lucille (Rabanus) Riegel. She grew up and attended school in West Fargo, graduating from West Fargo High School in 1965. She then attended Interstate Business College in Fargo and worked for ten years as a bank teller at Dakota National Bank in Fargo.

Marlene married Douglas Lilleby on August 9, 1969, in Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo. They made their home in Moorhead until moving to Bemidji in 1981. Marlene enjoyed crafting and basket making. She and Doug volunteered at their church, Bethel Lutheran in Bemidji, MN. She also delivered Meals on Wheels and served as an election judge for many years. She and Doug attended the Minnesota State Fair for 46 years in a row, and they also enjoyed going on the Minnesota Quilt Hop. They also loved to travel.

Marlene and Doug returned to Moorhead in 2018.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Douglas Lilleby, Moorhead, MN; son Clayton Lilleby, Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law, Maureen Lilleby, Lake Park, MN,  and three grandchildren, Ian (18), Rianna (18) and Tristan (13) Lilleby.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 9, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. The funeral service will be Monday, February 10, 2020, at 11:00 A.M., at the funeral home. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Alzheimer’s Association at www.act.alz.org.
