Marlene Marie (Larson) Fagerland, 81, of Moorhead, MN passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018, in Sanford on Broadway Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Marlene was born on May 5, 1936 to Louis and Clara (Ditlevson) Larson in Litchfield, MN.
Marlene graduated from High School in Grove City, MN. She then worked on a dude ranch in New Mexico prior to beginning Nursing School in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated with an Associate Degree in Nursing. Marlene was united in marriage to Gaylord Fagerland on June 25, 1960 in Minneapolis, MN. Marlene and Gaylord moved to Moorhead, MN soon after marriage where Marlene began her career as a PT/OT Aide for Moorhead Schools. After her retirement, she enjoyed her remaining years spending time with her family.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Gaylord; children, Peter (Cindy) Fagerland, Anne-Marie Booth, and David Fagerland; grandchildren, Brianna (Bryan) Luxton, Nathan Maerz, Christian Maerz, and Jack Fagerland; great-grandchildren, Mya and Nikko Luxton; brother, LeMoine (Peggy) Larson; brother-in-law, Arthur Olson; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Clara; sisters, Marjorie Larson and Marilyn Olson.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful caregivers at Elim Care Center for providing Marlene with exceptional care during her stay with them.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Marlene to either the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Visitation will be from 10:00AM-11:00AM, followed by the memorial service at 11:00AM, Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Elim Rehab and Care Center Chapel, 3534 University Drive South, Fargo, ND 58104.
