Marlyn B. Nelson

Marlyn B. Nelson, 76, of Hawley, MN, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.

Marlyn Berdel Nelson was born on January 10, 1939 to Edwin and Violet Gunderson Nelson in the family vehicle along Highway 32. He grew up in Rollog, MN, and attended District 3 country school up until 8th grade. He then attended Hawley High School and graduated in 1956.

Marlyn went into the Navy after high school and served until 1959. After returning from service he worked in construction. In July of 1962 he married Diane Kronbeck and they had three children; Racheal, Stacey and Zachary. In 1966 Marlyn began working for Western Electric/Bell Telephone which is now owned by AT&T. He retired in 1990.

Marlyn has always loved bowling, snowmobiling and tinkering on his numerous Ford tractors. He enjoyed dancing growing up as well as hunting and ice fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.

Marlyn is survived by his daughter, Racheal Gary Storms, Sabin, MN, sons; Stacey Nelson, Hawley, MN, Zachary Carmen Nelson, Ulen, MN, brothers; Arvid Nelson, Hawley, MN, Eugene Faye Nelson, Hawley, MN, sister, Janice Vigesaa, Hawley, MN, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Marlyn was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two daughters.

Visitation: Monday, April 20, 2015, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, 404 Leonard St., Hawley, MN.

Funeral: Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.

Interment: Lake Ida Cemetery, Lake Park, MN
