Marlyn N. Langerud died March 16, 2019 at Viking Manor in Ulen, MN.
Marlyn was born on September 10, 1926 in rural Sentinel Butte, ND, to Taylor and Evelyn Cook. She attended grade school at Westerheim School and graduated from Sentinel Butte High School in 1944. After high school, Marlyn attended summer school at Dickinson State College, then taught at several rural grade schools in western ND.
Marlyn married Jim Jefferies on June 1, 1948. They worked on several ranches in western ND where they raised four daughters. In 1964 they moved to rural Hawley, MN. Marlyn worked at Herbst Department Store, Stone Chevrolet and Silver Lake Oil during her career. Jim died in 1983.
Marlyn married Gordon Langerud in 1990 and they spent the next 24 years raising horses, traveling and enjoying their many grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Rita (Keith) Myers, Roxanne Burnside, Ramona (Ron) Kramer and Roberta (Paul) Nistler; step-children, Hazel (Ron) Butenhoff, Cliff (Mary) Langerud, Pauline (Ken) Pederson, Barbara Morken and Gary (Debi) Langerud; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, plus 17 step-grandchildren and many step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Phil and Joe; her husbands, Jim and Gordon; step-son, David Langerud; step-son-in-law, Curt Morken and 2 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Hawley, MN.
Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery in the spring.
