Marlys Lund, 69, of Moorhead, MN, died November 7, 2022, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
Marlys Clara Erickson was born January 3, 1953, in St. Cloud, MN, to Vernon and Earla Mae (Benson) Erickson. She grew up in French Lake Township, MN and attended Lee School through 8th grade, after which she attended Annandale High School for grades 9-11, graduating from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in 1971. Marlys married Daniel Lund on April 1, 1972 in French Lake, and they moved to Dahn, Germany while Dan served in the military. Throughout their life together, they’ve called multiple places “home” including Annandale, MN, Murfreesboro, TN, and Moorhead, MN.
For several years, Marlys worked as a hotel banquet manager. She was also employed as an office manager for the Spanish department at Concordia College until her retirement in 2014. She enjoyed spending summers at the lake and having coffee with her sister and close friends.
In all seasons of life, Marlys devoted her heartfelt energies to serving the Lord and to caring for her devoted husband of 50 years. Together they raised three daughters and had seven grandchildren. Her faith in Christ was her stronghold and confidence through the ups and downs of life. Growing up, she was a regular churchgoer and received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior as a young child. As an adult, she was active in the churches she attended wherever she lived, leading numerous committees and Bible studies. In all of her service and roles, she set a remarkable example through the love and care she showed to those around her. She fully understood that Christ had died for her sins and rose again, and that by putting her faith in Him alone, she had received the free gift of eternal salvation and the promise of a home in God’s eternal kingdom, free from pain or suffering forever.
Marlys is survived by her husband, Dan, of Moorhead; daughters, Alicia (Don) Mitchell, Old Hickory, TN, Heidi Sistad, Nampa, ID, and Kirsten Lund, Moorhead; brothers, Jim Erickson and Mike (Bev) Erickson and sister, Joan Mathison; grandchildren, Weston, Wyatt, Wraef, James, Erika, Taylor, and Thomas; and many beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
