Mary A. Hilde

Mary Alice Hilde passed away October 19, 2020 in Moorhead, MN, after a hard fought battle with Multiple Sclerosis and lung cancer at the age of 78.

Mary A. Desjardins was born to George and Lucille Desjardins in Annandale, MN, on July 13, 1942. She was raised in Felton, MN, by her grandparents, Ernest and Regina Desjardins.

She married Bruce Speer on November 18, 1959. Together they had five children. She married Richard Hilde on September 26, 2001. Mary and Richard spent many happy winters in Texas. Mary enjoyed the warm weather, the ability to grow beautiful flowers, and many hours of playing cards, games and music. In her younger years, Mary was an accomplished seamstress.

Mary worked for the United States Postal Service and served as the Postmaster for both the Hitterdahl and Ulen, MN, post offices, retiring from the latter in 1999.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; sons, Duane and Christopher; sister, Georgia Larson and grandparents, Ernest and Regina Desjardins.

She is survived by her children, Donna Sheffey, Doreen (Myron) Knodel and Chuck (Kerrie) Speer; 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a sister, Sheila Otting.

The family would like to thank the staff at Eventide on 8th and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Visitation will continue Monday, October 26, from 2:00-3:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 3:00 at Wright Funeral Home. The memorial service will be live streamed at 3:00 P.M.
