Mary Ann Dyrdahl was born on January 23, 1923, in Twin Valley, MN to Maurice and Alma Ramsey Dyrdahl. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. She was a graduate of the Twin Valley High School. Following graduation, Mary Ann moved to St. Paul, MN, and worked for Montgomery Wards. After returning to Twin Valley, she worked at the Twin Valley State Bank. On June 23, 1946, Mary Ann married the love of her life, Gordon K. McDougall of Hawley, MN, upon his return after a 42-month deployment during WWII. After moving to Hawley, Mary Ann took a position with Thysell Brothers of Hawley. She then worked for Heimark Brothers and also Hawley Lutheran Church. In 1971 she started her dream job where she was the secretary of the Music Department at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, where she worked until her retirement in 1988. She held many offices with her involvement in Hawley PTA, American Legion Auxiliary and Hawley Lutheran Church. Singing was a life-long passion for Mary Ann starting with a solo with a men's quartet at the age of three. She was a soloist and a member of many choirs. But Mary Ann took the greatest pride in teaching her granddaughters all the songs from her childhood. Mary Ann is survived be her beloved husband of over 61 years, Gordon; daughters, Beth McDougall of Grand Forks, ND, and Bonnie Brad Hurner of Moorhead, MN; granddaughters, Rachel and Heather Hurner, both of Moorhead; Chinese daughter, Eva Tate Tsang of Lexington, KY; brother, Robert Maurine Dyrdahl of Plymouth, MN; sister, Ruth Quinten Hoein of Litchfield, MN; and sister-in-law, Ruth Dyrdahl of Detroit, MI.She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Julian Dyrdahl, Genevieve Carriveau, Olive James and James Dyrdahl.
