Merry M. Smith

Merry M. Smith of Moorhead, MN passed away at her home on Friday, November 4, 2022.

Merry Margaret (Gjerswold) Smith was born August 10, 1961, to James and Lillian (Seboe) Gjerswold in Grand Forks, ND. She grew up and attended school in Grand Forks and Fridley, MN, graduating from Coon Rapids High School, Coon Rapids, MN in 1979. She went on to attend Northland Community College in East Grand Forks, MN obtaining a degree in Accounting.

In 2002 she moved to Fargo, ND, met the love of her life, Gary Smith, and they were married on May 25, 2003. She worked at Bethany Nursing Home for 14 years. Merry enjoyed cooking and baking, trying new recipes, entertaining friends and playing cards. Merry was a good friend to many and cherished those friendships both at her work and church. She was forever an optimist and looked for the good in everything.

Merry is survived by her husband, Gary, stepdaughters, Jessica and Ariel, brother Wayne (Brenda) Gjerswold, sisters, Becky (Russ) Holte, Debbie (Art) Passa, and Lynette Felegy, and many nieces and nephew.

Merry was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert and nephew James Passa.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Fargo Baptist Church, Fargo, ND.
