Mavis A. Aasland

Mavis A. Aasland, 89, of Moorhead, MN passed away on Tuesday, October 18th 2016 at Essentia Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Mavis was born on August 27th, 1927 to Edwin and Emma Sorenson Wennberg in Bagley, MN. She was then raised in Clearbrook, MN where she also graduated from High School. From there, Mavis went to Concordia and then on to Fairview Nursing School. After schooling, for the next 35+ years, Mavis was an O.B. nurse for various hospitals.

Mavis was especially proud of being a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of Christ the King in Moorhead, MN and was a very active member in the Circle and Befrienders groups through the church. While her husband was living at Eventide Nursing Home, Mavis made many friends and continued to be so after her husband’s passing.

Mavis is survived by her Son, Christopher Rita Aasland; Daughter, Becky Charlie Wilcox; Grandchildren, Christopher John Aasland, Kyle LaShay Wilcox, and Carolyn Wes Edwards; Sister, Orlyn Dewey Robson and many other loving relatives and friends. She is proceeded in death by her Husband, Donald Aasland; Grandson, David Wilcox; Parents, and her Brother, Edsel Wennberg.

Services will take place on Tuesday, October 25th, at 11:00 A.M. at the Lutheran Church Christ the King in Moorhead, MN. Visitation will be on Monday, October 24th from 5-8 with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

The family of Mavis Aasland would especially like to thank the stroke center doctors and nursing staff at Essentia Health Hospital for all of their hard work and dedication to Mavis.
