Mavis Goodwill died peacefully Monday, October 12, 2009, in her home, Riverview Place, Fargo, ND.Mavis Hakanson was born on June 2, 1920, in Maddock, ND to Hjalmer and Mabel Nelson Hakanson. She grew up in Maddock, graduating from Benson County Agriculture Training School. She went on to attend Dakota Business College. On March 19, 1944, she married Maurice Goodwill in South Viking Lutheran Church, in Maddock. They lived in California and in various cities in North Dakota, settling in Fargo with their four children. In 1987 they retired on the family farm in Starkweather, ND, and moved to Riverview Place, Fargo, in January 2008."Mim" dedicated her life to Maurice and her children. She was a wonderful cook and talented seamstress, winning many ribbons at county fairs for her sewing and chocolate fudge. She also loved dancing and listening to music. She took great pleasure in spending time with her family and friends, and keeping memories alive with photographs and scrapbooking. Mavis also enjoyed the years she worked at Northwest Fabrics in Fargo.She is survived by her husband, Maurice; four children, William Rita Goodwill, Fargo, Patricia Rick Anderson, Fargo, Doug Lynn Goodwill, Devils Lake and Denise Arlan Kunz Goodwill, Fargo; one sister, Helen Rolf Berg; four grandchildren, Dr. Stacy Dan Raymond Goodwill, Blair Jodi Anderson, Natalie Goodwill and Cale Goodwill; and two great-grandchildren, Grant Goodwill Raymond and Emma Blue Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hjalmer and Mabel; and one brother, Donald Hakanson.
