Mayvis M. Beaudine, 83, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park.
Mayvis Marie Mortenson was born January 22, 1935, in Felton, MN, to Fred and Gladys (Larson) Mortenson. She attended country school and after finishing school she began working at Sunnyside Care Center as a nurse’s aide. On May 29, 1954, she was united in marriage to Chester Beaudine at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Lake Park. They made their home in Lake Park and Mayvis lovingly cared for their children and home. After their children were grown, Mayvis worked as a dietary aide in the kitchen at Sunnyside, and she later owned and operated the Boardwalk Café in Lake Park until 1995. She then became kitchen manager at the Senior Center in Lake Park where she worked until her retirement.
Mayvis was an excellent cook and baker and she loved entertaining family and friends. She was creative and artistic, and she enjoyed oil and watercolor painting and teaching ceramics at her Night Owl Clay Shop out of her home. She also loved bowling, golfing, gardening, spending time at the lake, and gambling at her favorite casinos in Reno, Laughlin, and Las Vegas, NV as well as the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they were all very special to her.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Lake Park Fire Department Auxiliary, a Girl Scout and Boy Scout den leader, a 4-H leader and, along with her husband Chester, founding member of the Midnight Riders Snowmobile Club.
Mayvis is survived by her children, Jeannie (Dale) Wilde, Mike (Marge) Beaudine, Jody Beaudine, Tammy (Mark) Imsande, John Beaudine; brothers, Harland Mortenson, Merlin Mortenson and Douglas Mortenson; sisters, Ramona Haglund, Ida Mae Anderson, Patricia Benson and Linda Ruziska; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; her parents; baby daughter, Margaret Susan, and siblings, Warrren Mortenson, Luella Desotel, Wayne Mortenson and Clifford Mortenson.
Mayvis selflessly cared for others, as though they were part of her own family, her entire life. She will truly be missed by many.
