Melba L. Sorvik

Melba Loraine (Krabbenhoft) Sorvik was born January 26, 1923, to William F. and Nathalia (Buth) Krabbenhoft.  She grew up and attended school in Sabin, MN, and lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area all her life.

Melba was a long time member of the Glyndon Lutheran Church assisting with Luther League and youth activities.  She was also a member of the Glyndon Ladies Aid.  Melba worked for Mrs. Blows Sewing Center and Moorhead Rexall Drug before retiring in 1995.  She loved to travel; visiting family and friends, most especially to Germany to visit her daughter, Carolyn and her family.  Melba’s ‘fun for life’ spirit, genuine love and concern for others will be missed.

In her last years, Melba resided at Lilac Homes, Moorhead, MN.  Melba went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2022 at the age of 99 and 7 months.  She is survived by her daughter Carolyn (Glenn) Meyers, Indianapolis, IN, and son Jeffery (Joni) Tweten, Moorhead, MN; 9 grandchildren, Darin (Kari) Tweten, Stacey (Scott) Popkin, Eric (Desiree) Tweten, Philip (Matt) Tweten, Adam (Shannon) Meyers, Alex (Jen) Meyers, Seth (Ashley) Meyers, Nathan (Kara) Tweten, Natasha (Mark) Patz; great-grandchildren, Meghan, Jacob, Sydney, Quinn, Danica, Micheal, Peyton, Zachery, Samantha, Josie, Elise, Jaime, Wyatt, Will, Elle, Sam, Piper, Beckett, Holden, Journey, Sofia, and Marina; many nieces and nephews.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, Robert Krabbenhoft, Vernon Krabbenhoft, Eldon Krabbenhoft and sisters, Violet Amundson and Nora Koenig; son, Micheal Tweten; daughters-in-law, Rose (Michael) Tweten and Peggy (Jeffery) Tweten; her husbands, Weslie Tweten and Kenneth Sorvik.

Services will be held at Wright Funeral Home on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
