Merlin L. Mortenson

Merlin LeRoy Mortenson, 71, of Glyndon, MN, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021, in his daughter’s home under the care of hospice.

Merlin was born May 2, 1950, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Fred and Gladys (Larson) Mortenson. He grew up and attended school in the Ogema/Glyndon area until moving to Moorhead.

He married Melody Leaf in April of 1976.

Merlin worked construction most of his life until becoming disabled in 1985. He was an avid sports fan and was always cheering on his Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything else outdoors. He loved spending time with friends and family and was very proud of his grandson Dalton’s, military service. He was a social butterfly.

He is survived by his son, Chuck; daughters, Renee, and Jessica; grandsons, Dalton (Gabby) and Nathaniel, all of Moorhead; brothers, Harland, St. Cloud, MN, and Doug, Lake Park, MN; sisters, Ida Mae, Glyndon, MN, Linda, Audubon, MN, and Pat, Dilworth, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Chip, Wayne, and Warren; and sisters, Luella, Mavis, and Ramona.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 2:00 PM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
