Michael R. Hegland

Michael Roger Hegland moved on to sing the next verse of his life on November 13, 2024, in Chandler, Arizona with family at his side.

Michael was born February 11, 1956, to Roger and Shirley Hegland of rural Moorhead. Mike’s family’s farm included their grandparents’ home too. At an early age Mike engaged in farming operations along with his sisters. There was always something to do on the dairy farm. As time went on the dairy operation was suspended and the family farm focused more on grains, corn, and sugar beets. Mike became increasingly involved in the farming operations. Mike got interested in farm management and implemented many new processes on their farm. Mike became interested in commercial farm chemical applications and eventually became one of the worldwide largest Loral Applicator Dealers. He also became a nationwide farm chemical applicator. Mike retired from these endeavors and moved to the Scottsdale area. There he perused many other creative business endeavors.

Mike also had a lifelong interest in music. He sang with a group called the Road Dawgs and eventually had a show called Legends Showcase Tribute. Mike had a special place in his heart for Elvis Presley and he impersonated him and competed in Las Vegas Competitions.

Mike met the Love of his life, Miss Sherry Chen in Scottsdale and eventually moved to Chandler, Arizona. Mike and Sherry opened a dinner entertainment restaurant, and both performed nightly. Later they opened Legends Showcase Tribute Bar and Grill with assorted nightly entertainment.

Mike loved Minnesota and the lakes area. He had various retreats on Pelican, Little Detroit, Franklin and a large acreage between Lizzie and Franklin lakes where he enjoyed wildlife, camping, cook outs and hanging out with friends.

Mike is survived by his life partner Sherry Chen; his daughter Emily Christensen; sister Rebecca Soloway (Jerry); sister Kathy Hegland and many nieces and nephews, their spouses, children and many cousins and special friends. He also survived by Sherry’s mother, sisters, brothers and their spouses and children.

Mike was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Rae Hegland and father Roger Leonard Hegland; his grandparents and some aunts, uncles and cousins.
