Michael J. Hartel

Michael J. Hartel, 46, of Fargo, ND, passed away August 24, 2018.

Michael James Hartel was born September 24, 1971, in Fargo, ND, to Ronald and Marilyn (Kuehl) Hartel.  He grew up and attended school in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School in 1990.  After high school he attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for business.  In 1994 he met Trenny Senske and they were married on Sanibel Island, Florida, on May 4, 1996. They made their first home in Bismarck, ND for 5 years, where their daughter, Miryley Rae was born.  While there, Mike purchased Interstate Battery Systems, a distributorship in Bismarck.  In 2000 the family moved to Fargo, where their son, Cole Tac, was born.  In 2000 Mike opened Interstate All Battery Center, a retail store in Fargo.  Over the years, Mike would continue to purchase and operate many Interstate Battery businesses in Fargo and Bismarck, as well as Rapid City, SD, Casper, WY, and Spokane, WA.

Mike was an enthusiastic and devoted fan of hockey and he served on several local hockey boards, donating his time and energy to growing the local youth hockey program.  He also loved hunting and fishing and spending time at the lake with his family and friends.  He enjoyed downhill skiing and took several memorable trips to Big Sky with his family.  Mike was a devoted and loving husband and father, the rock of his family.  He was extremely dedicated to all those he loved and was always there if anyone needed anything. He was proud of his children and all their accomplishments, and was always there to support his loving wife, Trenny.  He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

Mike is survived by his wife, Trenny, Fargo; his daughter, Miryley Hartel, Fort Collings, CO; his son, Cole Hartel, Fargo; his parents, Ronald and Marilyn Hartel, Fargo; his brother, Daniel (Michelle) Hartel, Plymouth, MN; his father and mother-in-law, Gary and Carol Senske; his brother and sister-in-law, Steele and Sherry Senske; his sister-in-law, Dawn Senske, and his nieces and nephews, Tyler, Conner and Kylie Hartel and Sierra, Steele and Sam Senske.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Sabin, MN.
