Michael L. Buchanan

Michael Leslie Buchanan, 34, left this earth for heaven, while in his sleep, during the morning of July 15, 2016.

Michael was born on November 14, 1981 in Stillwater, OK. He lived in Stillwater until 2007 when his family moved to Fargo. He graduated from Stillwater High School. Michael worked at the Food Court at Oklahoma State University and at Olive Garden in Fargo. He was a team member at Spotlight Media. Michael also received services from Friendship-CHI and Community Living Services.

Michael had Down Syndrome. He lived life to the fullest every single day. To know him was to be his friend and for him to have your phone number was to be guaranteed that there would always be a voicemail waiting for you. Always.

He was a fan of the Stillwater Pioneers, OSU Cowboys and Cowgirls and the NDSU Bison. Michael assisted his parents in working with university ministry at University Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater and Salem Evangelical Free Church in Fargo.

Survivors include his parents, David and Cindy Buchanan of Fargo, his siblings Peter Renee, Las Vegas, NM and Amy Virginia, Brooklyn, NY, his Grandma, Arlene Gibson, Lisbon, ND, his Auntie, Virginia Yates, Moorhead, MN, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and countless friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his Grandad and Granny, M.L. Buck and Lucye Nell Buchanan, and his Grandpa, Leslie Gibson.

His memorial service will be held on Friday, August 5 at 2PM at Salem Evangelical Free Church in Fargo. A prayer service will be at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead at 7PM, Thursday, August 4 preceded by visitation from 5PM to 7PM.

Memorials can be for Gigi’s Playhouse-Fargo or to Hope Lutheran Church-Fargo designated for Night to Shine.
