Michael M. Quacken

Michael Mathias Quacken was born in the country of Germany on 09/28/1944. He was raised in Mannheim Germany and was active in soccer as a goalie, carrying his love for this sport to the end. He came to America in June 1965 to see the United States and remained in this country until his death, with many trips back to Germany to visit his mother. He spent many years in the state of Colorado, and eventually made his way to the Fargo-Moorhead area where he played music for upwards of 30 years as Michael, Mike, “the Duck”. Michael spent many years on the road with Bowery Boys and Last Chance in the 80’s, eventually returning to the area playing classic rock and country with many area musicians, and meeting his companion Mary, who has remained at his side for the last 30 years. Michael has always carried his love for soccer and tennis and in the later years enjoyed watching these sports as well as spending time fishing and camping with Mary. Michael fell ill in the last few years with COPD and lost his battle on July 1, 2016 at Sanford Medical Hospital with Mary and friends by his side.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 28, at Noon, in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
