Michelle Diane Edwards

Michelle Diane (Halvorson) Edwards, 69, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, in Sanford on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Michelle was born on April 27, 1951, to Gilmore and Lorraine (Daniel) Halvorson in Minot, ND. She attended and graduated from Minot High School and went on to graduate from Minot State University with a bachelor’s degree. She worked as an assistant in physical therapy and later worked as an addiction counselor. She was united in marriage to Dennis Esselman in Minot, and together they had on child, Nicole. When Michelle’s parents retired, they moved to Las Vegas, NV, where she worked as a craps dealer. She married Ron Edwards in Las Vegas, NV. After her father passed away, she moved with her mother to Moorhead, MN, where she has lived ever since.

Michelle loved dogs and always had one as a companion. She enjoyed gardening and shopping trips to Dakota Square, West Acres, Minneapolis and also via QVC. When she found something she liked, she wasn’t afraid to purchase two and give the extra item to her daughter or one of her grandchildren. She also wasn’t averse to getting one in every color!

Michelle was a generous and kind person who loved spending time with family. In her younger years, she would take a whole day out of her weekend to prepare special family meals.  She also had a sweet tooth and especially enjoyed the frosted sugar cookies commonly found in grocery store bakeries. While living in Las Vegas, she and her mother would take the time to compare the amount of frosting on the cookies before deciding which package to purchase. In her later years, she proved to be deceptively feisty, strong and resilient as she dealt with aging and the health issues that often accompany it.

Michelle is survived by her daughter, Nicole Hagness and grandchildren, Taylor and Dustin Hagness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilmore and Lorraine.
