Mildred was born March 11, 1913, at her parent's farm north of Hawley, Minnesota, to Ed and Eliza Alberts. She graduated from Hawley High School in 1930. Mildred married Roy Noreen on April 26, 1939 at her mother's home in Hawley. They lived and farmed in Eglon Township for 52 years, then moved to Hawley in 1991. Roy died in 1996. Mildred moved to Hawley Senior Living in 2004. Mildred was an active member of the Dale Covenant Church, where she taught Sunday School and played the piano. Ladies Aide was a vital part of her life. When the Dale Church closed, she became a member of the Hawley United Methodist Church in 1992. She was an active member there, helping with the Ladies activities. She had been a member of the Eglon Homemakers and was a 4-H leader. Roy and Mildred delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and were active at the Senior Citizens Center. Mildred enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She loved vegetable and flower gardening. Roses were her favorite. She was an avid sports booster for her grandchildren and great-granddaughters on the Hawley Nuggets teams. Mildred had a deep faith in the coming of Jesus and looked forward to the day. Reading the Bible and praying for her family were very important to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, parents, Ed and Eliza Alberts, six siblings, Guy, Ralph, Russell, Lloyd, Esther Jensen and Marjorie Edquist. She is survived by two sons, Leroy Lorraine Noreen of Benson, MN, Joel Chris Noreen of Christine, ND; two daughters, Linda Duane Berg of Yukon, OK, and Jane Sheldon Holm of Fergus Falls, MN; fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
