Mildred L. Houge

Mildred L. Houge, 86, Hendrum, MN, died on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.Mildred L. Lere was born on February 21, 1920, in Benson corner, ND, to Louis and Marie Sandness Lere. She grew up and attended school there. Mildred worked various jobs and met her husband while working as a cook for a road crew for Ziegler Road Construction. Mildred married Alvin O. Houge on October 21, 1945, in the High Prairie Lutheran Church at Benson Corner, ND. They made their home near Hendrum, MN, where they farmed all of their lives. She had been very active at Concordia Lutheran Church, near Hendrum, in the ladies aid and teaching Sunday School. She had also been active at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum in her later years, prior to moving to Eventide. Alvin died on November 14, 1998.Mildred is survived by one son, Larry Houge, Hendrum, MN; two daughters, Carolyn Lloyd Olson, Camrose, Alberta, Canada, and Susan Rori Green, Ulen, MN; three brothers, Leonard Doris Lere, Crystal, MN, Roland Lere, Marion, ND, and Lowell Gloria Lere, Moorhead, MN; three sisters, Florence Lere, Marion, ND, Alice Page Shaw, Millinocket, Maine, and Muriel Lere, Marion, ND; three granddaughters, Tova, Lael and Kiva Olson.
