Mollie Bylund

August 15, 1915 — October 25, 2017

Mollie Bylund, 102, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead, MN.

Mollie Klein was born in Breckenridge on August 15, 1915 to Henry and Mary (Muntz) Klein. She grew up on a farm just outside of Breckenridge with her 8 brothers and 3 sisters. While living in Breckenridge she worked at Swift & Co. In 1939 she met John Bylund at a dance in Foxhome. After Mollie moved to California she and John continued to correspond. Because of John’s love for Mollie, he moved to California where they were married on February 2, 1942. It was there where Mollie and John had their first child, a daughter, Sonya. Mollie and John moved to Fargo, ND where Gloria and Leon were born, then finally making their home in Moorhead, raising their 3 children. Mollie had a real passion for gardening and flower arranging. She was a distinguished member of the Fargo Garden Society and well respected by fellow members of the club. She also enjoyed ceramics, painting and wood carving. Her greatest joy was having her children – always caring for her family and others. She also enjoyed dancing and occasionally going on the Seniors bus to Mahnomen. She had a wonderful sense of humor and wit – either telling a joke or pulling a prank. One of Mollie’s favorite pastimes was to go to garage sales, she also had many of her own. In 2000, Mollie moved to Linden Tree at Eventide in Moorhead, where she enjoyed playing cards and bingo with fellow residents. In 2010, moved over to the skilled care facility for additional care.

Mollie is survived by her daughter Gloria; son, Leon (Lois); son-in-law, Rodney Melby; grandchildren, Douglas (Beth), Scott (Renee), Bradley (Connie) Melby, and Jennifer, Kayla, Michael (Morgan) Bylund; great-grandchildren, Trenton, Alexa, Sondra, Mitchel, Leah Melby, and Kaia Bylund; one sister, Rose Wolters of Breckenridge, MN and many nieces and nephews.
