Mona L. Laflair

Mona Lee LaFlair, 80, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Vibra Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Mona was born on June 6, 1941, to Rocco and Frieda (Jenia) Vito in Eveleth, MN. She graduated from Eveleth High School in 1959 and went on to attend The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

Mona married James LaFlair on July 18, 1970, and in 1974 they welcomed a son, Jason. Mona put teaching on hold to stay home with Jason and help out with some of the family businesses. She later went to work for Breezy Point Resort and then as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Catholic churches in Pequot Lakes and Nisswa, MN, where she stayed until her retirement.

Mona and James wintered in Florida for many years and enjoyed summers with family at the lake.

She is survived by her husband; brother, Jerry Vito, Eveleth, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jason; and brother-in-law, Richard LaFlair.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Lake Park, MN.
