Mona M. Holm

Mona M. Holm, age 92, of Rapid City, SD, died Friday, December 7, 2007, under the care of Hospice in Rapid City, SD.Mona Mae, daughter of Henry and Anna Spielman spent her childhood on a farm near Twin Valley, MN. She attended Concordia College, Moorhead, MN where she met Carl Holm. They married in 1941 after he completed seminary and she taught school. They served the Lord in nine Lutheran parishes in North and South Dakota, and Minnesota. In addition to parenting their four children, they provided a temporary home to many teenagers in need. In 1985 they retired to Moorhead, Minnesota, yet remained active in churches and service to others. After Carl's death in 1994, Mona spent many hours volunteering and sharing her faith at the Homeless Shelter, Lost and Found Ministry, and Trinity Church, Moorhead. In 2004 she moved to Rapid City, near her daughter, Mary. She leaves four children: Dan Holm and Caren Peter Martin of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; Mary Larry Repp of Rapid City, SD and Lucia Steve Schroeder of Charleston, IL and Glyndon, MN; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother, Lloyd Ruth Spielman, Twin Valley, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, Mona desired memorials be given to missions or for the homeless.
