Morris Cossette, 95, Moorhead MN, died on Sunday, March 10, 2019 in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo ND.
Morris Cossette was born on August 7, 1923 on the family farm in Horace, ND. Morris was one of eight children born to Marion and Gedeon Cossette. Morris attended school at St. Benedict, Wild Rice, ND and Horace, ND. After attending school, Morris helped on his uncle’s farm before he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He was awarded an Honorable Discharge October 5, 1946, receiving an American Theater Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.
Morris married Inez Krabbenhoft on September 15, 1948 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Fargo, and they made their home in Moorhead, where they recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed many summers at their cottage on Lake Lizzie Minnesota with family, friends and neighbors and wintered in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for several years.
After discharge from the Army, Morris worked for Gamble Robinson and Union Storage, Fargo, ND and attended the trade school in Fargo. From there he moved into his career with the City of Moorhead, working as a Heavy Equipment Operator, mechanic and finally Supervisor of the Maintenance Garage, covering other departments as well including voting machines. Morris worked for the City of Moorhead for 36 and 1/2 years before retiring. After retirement from the City, he worked for American Crystal for four fall seasons, serving as the Supervisor for the Felton Beet Piler for three years.
Morris was a life time member of the Fargo American Legion, a volunteer for the Moorhead VFW, and volunteer for St. Francis de Sales Church where he was a long- time parishioner.
Morris is survived by children Carol (David Jones) Cossette, Wallace, NC, Dianne (Judd) Nelson, St. Paul, MN, and Steven (Kellie) Cossette, Harwood, ND, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brothers Leo (Julie) Cossette and Clarence Cossette, and many nieces and nephews. Morris is predeceased by his wife Inez, brothers Saul Cossette and Ernest Cossette, and sisters Cecile (Cossette) Thompson, Rose (Cossette) Huseby, and Viola (Cossette) Roberg.
Morris was under the loving care of Hospice. The family requests any memorials be sent to Red River Valley Hospice, 1701 38th St. S., Suite 101, Fargo ND 58103.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead, MN. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead.
