Mylin Donald Cummings

Heaven gained an amazing angel, Mylin Donald Cummings, on May 30, 2018. Mylin was born on October 30, 1945 in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Gordon and Beatrice Cummings. They lived on a farm in rural Hawley, MN. He graduated in 1963 from Hawley High School and after graduation he worked for Northern Improvement where he helped build the railroad bridge over I-29 in 1964. Mylin then went to work for Sears Tire for 6 months before being drafted into the army in October, 1965. He served 13 months in Korea protecting the demilitarized zone (DMZ). After discharge in 1967 he continued in the Army National Guard until March, 1974 and returned to work at Sears until April, 2000. Mylin retired after 35 years with his last four years as Store Manager of the Automotive Group.

Mylin married the love of his life, Debra Eide, November 23, 1968. They made their home in Glyndon for their entire married life. They had 2 children, Jeff in 1969 and Sheri in 1971. Family was everything to Mylin and he always boasted about how proud he was of his family. When Mylin finally retired, he learned to relax a little by spending his winters in Laughlin, NV where he made another “family” of friends. Mylin had a way of making a complete stranger a friend within minutes. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons’ activities and teaching them all he knew about cars and more.

Mylin is survived by his wife, Debra Cummings, Glyndon, MN; son, Jeff (LeAnn) Cummings, Glyndon, MN; daughter, Sheri (Jerry) Schumann, Dilworth, MN; grandsons, Tyler Schumann, Chase Schumann, Dylan Cummings, Braydon Cummings, and Gavin Cummings; brother, Arlen (Brenda) Cummings, Detroit Lakes, MN; brother-in-law, Virgil (Kitti) Eide, Glyndon,MN; sisters-in-law, Linda (Bob) Erickson, Carrington, ND, Gwynn (Barry) Langerud, Hawley,MN, and Pam Rudolf, Dilworth, MN; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mylin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Cummings; parent-in-laws, Burton & Esther Eide; and brother-in-law, Michael Rudolf.

Memorial service will be Thursday, June 7^th at 2:00 pm in Glyndon Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN with visitation 1 hour before. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 6th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN.
