Myrna Johanson, loving mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2004 in her home in rural Moorhead. Myrna was born on May 17, 1940 to Ed and Betty Homme in Barnesville, MN. She grew up in Barnesville and graduated from Barnesville High School.In 1959 Myrna married Bernhard Tolzmann. They had one daughter, LaDonna. Ben passed away in 1967. Myrna remained unmarried until 1986 when she met and married Olaf Johanson. Together, they made their home in rural Moorhead. Olaf and Myrna were very active in Church dinners, and American Crystal Sugar Company Outings. They loved to take drives, be with family and friends and spend time at their lake cabin. Sadly, Olaf passed away on May 7, 1995. Myrna continued to live alone at the home that Olaf made for them until her death. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. Myrna was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in August 2002 while vacationing in Colorado. She regained her health, as the cancer went in remission, and was able to enjoy traveling and spending time with her family. Myrna, however, lost her battle with cancer on Thursday afternoon. She was strong, beautiful, and full of love until the end.Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Betty Homme; Her two husbands; one brother, Dell "Curly" Homme; Two sisters, Mitzi Wateland and Dixie Johnson; and one nephew, Eddy Homme Smith.She is survived by her daughter, LaDonna Tolzmann, and her fianc? David Grigel and their children Joseph Tolzmann and Ashley Grigel.Myrna is also survived by her sister Connie Duane Branden, Barnesville, MN., Her sister Roxanne Jack Boesen, Sarasota, FL., Her sister LaVonne Wibe, San Diego, CA; and one brother, Donald Linda Homme, Des Plaines, IL.Also mourning the loss of Myrna are many nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
