Nancy Ann Somdahl, 73, of Audubon, MN, died February 2, 2019, at Ecumen Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN.
Nancy was born January 29, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN, the first child of Harold and Helen (Morris) Davis. She was raised in Hopkins and Minnetonka, MN. She graduated in 1964 from Hopkins Eisenhower High School and the University of Minnesota in 1966, with an Associate of Arts degree, and then continued for 1 ½ years in Sociology, Psychology and Elementary Education. In 1968 Nancy married her beloved Sam Somdahl upon his return from Viet Nam and being honorably discharged from the Navy. They were married for 50 years.
The first seven years of their life together was spent in St. Louis Park, MN, moving to rural Hawley, MN in November 1974, and then moving to Big Cormorant Lake in March 2008. Nancy loved the lake life.
Nancy had a heart that was full of love for family, friends and all animals. She was deeply emotional and yet when it came to issues she really cared about she was very caring and strong willed.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Sam; son, Andy (Wendy); and granddaughters, Jesa and Layce.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Helen Davis; and brothers, Mike and Jim Davis.
Nancy’s family is forever grateful to Hospice of the Red River Valley for the care she received.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 12, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 1:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
