Nancy M. Barlow, age 79, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday March 22, 2008 at Eventide Lutheran Home. Depending who you talk to, Nancy was born November 7, 8, or 9, 1928 to Max and Marguerite O'Connor Lauder in Wahpeton, ND.Upon graduation from Wahpeton High School, Nancy attended the North Dakota State School of Science. Her first teaching position was in a one-room schoolhouse in Colfax, ND. Nancy then went to UND where she majored in Journalism. She returned to the State School of Science as a staff member. It was there she met William F. Barlow. They were married on April 14, 1952.Bill and Nancy moved to Moorhead to raise their four children: Barbara, Brad, Susan, and Douglas. Nancy worked as a writer at the Red River Scene Newspaper. Later, she earned a teaching degree from Moorhead State Teachers College. She taught English and was faculty advisor for the newspaper at Moorhead High School. She finished out her career at Moorhead Technical College.Nancy belonged to such infamous social groups as "Lunch A Table B", and the "The Round Robin". These groups made sure that each person was roasted appropriately on their birthday and that retirements were marked with great theatrical fashion.Nancy loved to travel with family and friends. She was able to see the "Doors of Dublin" on a trip to Ireland, took Broadway by storm several times, and made sure the golden gate was still standing. Her husband, Bill, preceded Nancy in death. She is survived by her children Barbara Paul Koplitz, Coleraine, MN; Brad Debbie Barlow, Russell, KY; Susan Bruce Bekkerus, Moorhead; and Doug Jodi Barlow, Red Wing, MN. Nancy's grandchildren are Matthew Tina Koplitz, Elk River, MN,Brianna, John and Jessie Barlow, Russell, Robert Jen Bekkerus, Eagan, MN, Leah Bekkerus, Moorhead, Brian, Jack and Hannah Barlow, Red Wing and great-grand children Nick, Ava and Caiden. She is also survived by her brothers Doug Jackie Lauder, Vancouver, WA; Jim Kathleen Lauder, Minnetonka, MN and sister Joanna Robert St. Clair, Minnetonka. She will deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
