Nancy Lynne Nyberg of Hawley, MN died peacefully at home, in the presence of her family, at the age of 66, on April 26.
Nancy was born to Charles (Chuck) and Lorilee (Barth) Petermann on July 18, 1953, the second of four children. She spent her youth working hard on the family farm amongst the glorious countryside and honest land. She graduated from Hawley high school in 1971 and attended, was baptized and confirmed at Hawley Lutheran Church.
In 1977 Nancy answered the call of her adventurous spirit by becoming a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines. Nancy travelled primarily to South Korea, Japan and China and always had a deep affection for those countries and their cultures. In a testament to her work ethic and loyalty, Nancy worked her entire career for Northwest and after a merger, Delta Airlines. Countless friends were made with colleagues over her years as a flight attendant and they all had the pleasure of sharing her joyful and fun loving personality.
Joy, health, fitness, friends and family were always Nancy’s passions. Everyone who met Nancy immediately had their spirits lifted and a smile on their face. She trained herself into marathon-runner fitness and enjoyed running continuously. After her running days ended, Nancy transitioned to power lifting and constantly sought to improve herself. She found joy in the countless books she read. She related to the underserved and overlooked in her reading, as well as in life.
But above all, her highest priority and ultimate joy came from her children Charles and Karl. She loved them fiercely with her entire being. Every moment and action she took was to love and serve them, to help them become the best they possibly could and for them to deeply feel and know the love she had for them. She would cheer them on at sporting events; watch their musical performances; answer texts or calls at any time of day or night when they were in trouble or sad and travel with them all over the world.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father Charles, her brother Randy and her niece Shawn. She is survived by her son Charles, his wife Gale and their daughter Elise; her son Karl, his wife Kim, and their sons Theo, Harry and a son due in October; her mother Lorilee; her sister Peggy (Russ Severson, Jodi); her sister Vicki (Randy Bjornson, Kayla, Adam & Jacob); and her nephew Taylor. While we are all deeply saddened by her passing, we joyfully look forward to the time when we will spend eternity with her, in the presence of God, in His kingdom.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., at Hawley Lutheran Church in Hawley, MN.
