Nan passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the age of 56 at MeritCare's Palliative Care Unit in Fargo after an eleven-year battle with melanoma. Nanette Irene Palmlund was born March 27th, 1953 to Levi and Alice Bau Palmlund in Huron, SD. She grew up on the family farm west of De Smet and graduated in 1971 from De Smet High School. In 1974 she obtained a RN degree from St. John's School of Nursing in Huron and worked at Huron Medical Center following graduation. On September 27th, 1974, she was united in marriage with Terry Danielson in De Smet. They then moved to Fargo, ND and later to West Fargo, ND. Since 1987 they made their home in rural Glyndon, MN. From 1975 to 2000, Nan worked at Dakota Hospital in their Critical Care Unit and as a House Supervisor. From 2000 to 2009, she worked at Innovis Health as a House Supervisor. She enjoyed immensely working with her colleagues and caring for many patients over the years. Nan was especially devoted to her friends and family spending countless hours helping others. She enjoyed antiquing with her girlfriends, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family and new grandson. In April, she and Terry enjoyed travelling to Europe to see their son in London and relatives in Denmark and Norway. She and her family were especially touched by the support she received from her colleagues and friends throughout the years. Her family would also like to thank the nurses of the Palliative Care Unit at MeritCare for their extraordinary care. Nan is survived by her husband, Terry, sons Jared of Fargo, Joshua of Barcelona, Spain, Jayme Shanna and grandson Camden of West Des Moines, daughter Laurie of Fargo, brothers Steve Teresa and Neil Donna Palmlund and mother Alice of De Smet, sister Shirley Jon Nelson of Brookings, sister Audrey Kolbeck of Yankton, sister Janice Palmlund of Sioux Falls, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Levi.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Roger Maris Cancer Center.
