Nathan Dale Hausmann, 45, died suddenly Tuesday evening at Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
Nathan was born on June 24th, 1975 in Graceville, MN to Dale and Debra Hausmann. He was the oldest of four children. In 1980, Nathan’s family moved to Staples, MN. Growing up, Nathan was active in sports, including baseball, track, football and basketball. He spent many a Sunday afternoon in the gym shooting hoops with his dad and sisters. Nathan graduated from high school in 1993 and moved to Fargo to attend college at NDSU. While attending college at NDSU, he became manager at the Dilworth Dairy Queen where he met his wife, Laura. In 1999, Nathan took a position at First National Bank in Dilworth. He worked his way from teller to Assistant Vice President. In 2012, First National Bank merged with Bell Bank and Nathan continued his career in banking. Nathan spent the last five years working in the Retail Underwriting Department.
While Nathan was managing the Dairy Queen in Dilworth, he met his wife, Laura, when he hired her as an employee. They began dating in 1997 and were married on August 11, 2001 and they made their home in Moorhead. Together, they welcomed two children, a daughter, Abigail (Abby) and a son, Drew. Family was very important to Nathan and his children were his proudest accomplishment. He loved his children more than anything and was involved in all aspects of their life. He spent many hours coaching basketball, soccer and t-ball, being involved in cub scouts, playing video games, watching dance recitals and theater performances, and snuggling. He loved to joke and tease his kids just to hear them laugh and according to them, gave the best hugs in the whole world.
In his free time, Nathan enjoyed watching and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings, the Minnesota Twins, and the NDSU Bison. He looked forward to his annual golf trip to Florida and tried to golf as much as possible. He loved watching reality TV, especially Survivor, Big Brother, and the Food Network. He loved hunting season and spending time at the deer shack with his dad, uncles and cousins. He was looking forward to the time when Drew was able to go sit with him and hunt.
Nathan is survived by his wife, Laura and their children, Abby and Drew; his parents, Dale and Debra Hausmann; sisters, Shannon, Jessica and Nicole; Father-In-Law, Larry Cihacek; Mother-In-Law, Karen Bruun; Brothers-In-Law, Brian (Amelia) Cihacek and David Cihacek; special friends, Erik and Meghan Thompsen; four nephews and two nieces; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
