Norma Jean Holte

Norma Holte, 89, Moorhead, MN, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Sanford Health Palliative Care in Fargo.

Norma Jean May Holte, 89, was born March 8, 1929 to Fred and Mathilda (Blauert) Hoffman.  She grew up on the family farm near Durbin, ND.  She attended country school at Durbin, graduated from Casselton High School and Moorhead State College with a degree in education.

She married Kermit B. Holte at the home of her grandparents on August 27, 1955.  Kermit died in 2006.

They lived in Ulen, MN and Dilworth, MN.  Norma moved to Linden Tree Circle at Eventide in 2009 and to the nursing home in 2011.

Teaching was her life, first in Ulen and then at George Washington in north Moorhead, a total of 37 years straight, having her daughter, Sherrie in July and ready to return to school in September.  It was amazing to see her recognize her 2^nd and 3^rd graders as adults and how surprised they were she remembered them.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Sherrie Holte Lien and her husband, Larry; her parents; brother, Douglas Hoffman and his wife, Evelyn; sister, Shirley Nelson and her husband, Orris; brother-in-law, Roger Vining; sister-in-law, Marilyn Holte Selseth and her husband, Norman, and brother-in-law, Dennis Holte.

She is survived by her sister, Bea Vining; brother-in-law, Gene (Freda) Holte; sisters-in-law, Carol (Rob) Ritchie and Joanne Holte; nieces and nephews, Craig (Anita) Nelson and their children, Nick and Chris, Scott Nelson, Mark Nelson, David (Wayne Sander) Hoffman, Pam (Gary Johnson) Nelson, Brad Selseth, Barry Selseth, Steven Selseth, Kristi Selseth, Randy Holte, Danny Holte, Mark Holte, Shannon Hatfield, Lori Swanson, Ryan Holte, Tracey Russell, Rochelle Spencer and their extended families.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, February 17, 2019, at 3:00, with visitation for one hour before the service, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Burial will take place on a later date at Keene Cemetery, rural Hawley, MN.
