Norman L. Nitzkorski, age 81, of Sabin, MN, died Tuesday, April 08, 2008, in the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family.Norman Lloyd Nitzkorski was born on July 16, 1926 in Barnesville, MN to Thomas and Marie Erickson Nitzkorski. He grew up and attended school in Barnesville, graduating from Barnesville High School. In February, 1945, Norman enlisted into the United States Army. He served during WWII in the Philippine Islands. He was honorably discharged in December, 1946. On October 23, 1948 he married June M. Huesmann in Sabin, MN. Together they had seven children. After they were married they lived in Moorhead for a short time until moving to Sabin. June died on January 30, 2001. Norman enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, playing cards, traveling, family reunions and most importantly spending time with his children and grandchildren. Norman was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and the VFW. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.He is survived by four sons, Jerry Karen of Harwood, MN, John Randi of Moorhead, MN, Charlie of Sabin, MN and Marc Mary of Trapper Creek, AK; three daughters, Peggy Steve Motschenbacher of Fargo, ND, Mary fiance, Bruce Brand Bjerke of Fargo, ND and Karen Tim Gillespie of Emerado, ND; one sister, Ruby Jean George Rheault of Fargo, ND; 16 grandchildren, DavidAlissa Motschenbacher, Amy Chris Gourde and Dan Jill Motschenbacher, Brian, Kevin, Stacy and Breanna Bjerke, Justin, Sondra and Robin Gillespie, Chantel and Devin Nitzkorski, and Zane, Dylan and Mara Nitzkorski and Charlie Franzen; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Gourde, Gabriel Motschenbacher, and Clara Motschenbacher; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers, Maurice and Bernard Nitzkorski.
