Norman Scobey

Norman "Norm" O. Scobey, 87, of Moorhead, MN died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in Golden Living Center, Moorhead, MN. Norman Oscar Scobey was born on May 17, 1925 in Minneapolis, MN to Oscar and Alma Helgeson Scobey. He grew up in Deronda, WI where he graduated from high school. Norm was a World War II veteran and served from 1943 – 1946. He returned to Brookings, SD attended college and earned his bachelor's degree. Norm moved to Moorhead, where he sold real estate and worked in the insurance business. He owned and operated Holiday Insurance in Moorhead. Norm had a love of being outdoors, including fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends at Golden Living Center. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Doug Scobey Blilie, Chandler, AZ and Sandy Scobey Duane Halvorson Moorhead, MN; son, Mark Bonnie Scobey, Glyndon, MN; sister, Mary Ruth Virgil Steger, Bartlesville, OK; and grandson, Ben Turmo, Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Audrey Scobey. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
