The family of Norris Pettersen wishes you to know that Norris passed away peacefully June 14, 2010 in Fargo, North Dakota. Norris was born April 11, 1915 in Superior, Wisconsin. He was married to June Doran Pettersen and lived for many years in Hawley, MN. Prior to June's death, June and Norris celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary. Norris is survived by his children Roberta and Gary Schroeder of Long Prairie, MN, Jim and Sandi Pettersen of Moorhead, MN and Cheryl Pettersen of Minneapolis, MN; beloved grandchildren Joel Schroeder of Washington, DC, Sara and Mike Opheim of Fargo, ND, Leslie Beadle of Moorhead, MN and Jamie and Andreana Pettersen of Laguna Hills, CA; and his precious great grandchildren Chase and Jeffrey Beadle and Taya and Riley Opheim. In addition, he was a dear uncle to his fifteen nieces and nephews. Norris was preceded in death by his wife June in 1981 and his grandson Jeffrey Schroeder in 1989. Norris first helped on the family farm in Rollag, MN. Norris and June moved to Vashon Island, WA in 1939. He worked building war ships for the Butler Shipyard in Superior Wisconsin. After the war, they moved back to Hawley, MN where Norris was part owner of Nelson Motors and was Chief of the Hawley Volunteer Fire Department. Norris was the shop foreman for Kost Brothers, Inc. in Moorhead, MN for thirty-seven years until his retirement. Norris lived a wonderful, full life and he made a lasting impression on all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and unselfishness.
