Ole R. Syverson

Ole Rasmus Syverson, 88, of Moorhead, MN quietly passed away on November 4, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Ole was born January 31, 1929 to Carl and Ruth (Melbye) Syverson on the family farm near Ulen, MN.  He grew up and attended school in Ulen.  Ole was confirmed and baptized at Atlanta Lutheran Church.  Ole joined the United States Army BTRY “B” 33^rd Field Artillery on October 11, 1951 and was honorably discharged from the military on September 18, 1953.

On September 29, 1956, he was united in marriage to Catherine (Casey) W. Holt in Calvin, ND.  Together they raised two children in Moorhead, MN.  Ole worked at Union Storage in Fargo, ND as a Warehouse Foreman for 36 years until he retired on January 31, 1991.  After retiring, he worked a short time at Tri-State Auto.  He was a member of the Atlanta Lutheran Church, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W.

Ole enjoyed traveling with Casey and friends, playing cards, fishing and spending time with his family.  He adored his grandchildren, his great granddaughter, and son-in-law’s.  He is survived by children Suzann (Kenneth) Sampson, Fargo, and Karla (Emile) Poisson, Wildwood, MO; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; brother Erling (Sharon) Syverson; sisters Ruth (Cliff) Hackbarth, Carol (Dennis) Carpenter, Barbara Carpenter; sister-in-law’s, brother-in-law’s, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service to begin at 7:30 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN.  A celebration of his life will take place at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:00 A.M.  Lunch will be served following the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Atlanta Lutheran Church, C/O Kim Syverson, P.O.
